Record-breaking Ronaldo steers Real Madrid to victory

The Whites defeated Celta with a hat-trick from the Portuguese striker, who made history at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Matchday 14 of the Liga BBVA became a magical night for Real Madrid CF and also for Cristiano Ronaldo. The striker dispatched a RC Celta who started the game with intensity but were unable to stop the goal-hungry Portuguese player, who scored a hat-trick to make it 3-0.

There was no shortage of intensity in the clash and in the Whites' play in the early stages of the encounter. The Vigo side defended well and stopped the Madrid attack in its tracks. Karim Benzema, James Rodríguez and Cristiano Ronaldo, who even attempted a scissors kick, threatened Sergio Álvarez's goal, but Real Madrid did not take the lead until the Portuguese striker scored a penalty.

Celta went out determined to claw their way back in the second half and they had the first chance, falling to Fabián Orellana, but he narrowly missed. After a few minutes of end-to-end stuff and chances for both sides, Ronaldo once again took the reins and delighted the Santiago Bernabéu on a dream night, first with a great shot that found the net, then again, when he scored his 200th Liga BBVA goal and completed his 23rd hat-trick in the competition.

The Portuguese player tasted success, but so did the rest of his team, earning their 18th straight win this season. The Celestes will have to wait until the next round to try to get a result.
