Málaga look to Europe

The Andalusian team beat Celta 1-0 with a goal from Samu García consolidating their sixth position, one point behind fifth-place Valencia.

Málaga CF beat RC Celta 1-0 in their Liga BBVA matchday 15 clash. Javi Gracia's men, who dominated most of the match, scored in the first half and had several opportunities to increase their lead.

The match started with Celta looking to take control of the game. After fifteen minutes, Fabián Orellana's shot across the goal forced a great save from Carlos Kameni, preventing the Celestes from opening the scoring. A few minutes later, Málaga responded with a chance of their own, this time finding the net and making it 1-0. Roque Santa Cruz set up Samuel Garcia, who, despite being surrounded by defenders, produced a header that Sergio Álvarez was powerless to stop.

The Galician keeper saved his team after a great shot from Roque, one of the stars of the first half, from the edge of the box that went behind for a corner. After the goal, Javi Garcia's men dominated possession.

It was a similar story after the break. Paraguayan player Roque Santa Cruz, like in the first 45 minutes, was outstanding and had a great chance with a shot across the goal that was just wide of its mark. Celta gradually began to create more danger in the opponent's area and had Málaga on their back foot. Despite this, the home team managed to produce a chance to increase their lead, they failed to convert though and Samu's goal in the first half proved to be the only one of the match.
