It's time for Real Racing Club Santander to celebrate as the club sealed a return to LaLiga 1l2l3. On Sunday, Racing overcame the last stumbling block to regain status in the prestigious Spanish football league.
The hard work throughout the season paid off, as the Cantabrian team came first in Group II of the Segunda Division B. The 78 points won are testament to this, with the team finishing six points ahead of UD Logroñés - highlighting that the team is worthy of football at a higher level. The first-place finish handed the side the chance to take on the leaders of Group III, Atlético Baleares. The 0-0 at El Sardinero left everything open for the return leg and Racing managed to build on the draw from the home first leg and go on to win the tie on away goals after a 1-1 draw in the second leg on Sunday.
The club's success is partly down to the guidance of manager Iván Ania, who has steered the club back to LaLiga 1l2l3. Promotion is the icing on the cake to a fine league campaign, which gives players like David Barral and Álvaro Cejudo the chance to once again play in the league where they made names for themselves.© LaLiga - Year 2019
