Malaga ready to run El Molinon gauntlet

The Andalusians are eyeing a long-awaited return to winning ways away to Sporting, who sorely need three points to bolster their survival prospects.

Team News:

- R. Sporting: Duje Cop (injured); Fernando Amorebieta, Lillo, Xavi Torres and Mikel Vesga (all suspended)

Malaga CF: Bakary Kone and Zdravko Kuzmanovic (both injured); Juankar and Recio (both suspended)

Match Facts:

Sporting (18th, 22 pts)

- After a run of two creditable draws and a win in their last three fixtures, the Asturians will be looking to build on their momentum and keep fanning the flames of optimism among the fans in Gijon as they attempt to pull off a great escape.

- "This is another opportunity for us. We're confident about the way we're going about things, the squad are really pumped up and we've got to carry on in the same vein," said Sporting boss Rubi in the run-up to this showdown.

Malaga (15th, 27 pts)

- Michel's men enter this encounter gunning to end a win drought stretching all the way back to 20 February, when they scraped past UD Las Palmas 2-1. Victory at El Molinon would go a long way towards allaying the frayed nerves back at La Rosaleda by pulling the Andalusians further away from trouble.

- Malaga are one of only two LaLiga Santander teams, the other being Granada CF, who have yet to win on the road this season. Their 15 away games to date have yielded seven draws and eight defeats.
