JoséRamón Sandoval landed at Granada CF on 1 May with the club six points from safety, but managed to spearhead a dramatic turnaround and guide the team to survival. Granada won three matches and got one draw in his four games in charge, making Sandoval (Madrid, 02/05/1968) an obvious choice for the BBVA Award ‘Best Coach in the Liga BBVA in May’, as chosen by the LFP.es website and awarded by BBVA, the league’s main sponsor.
Granada’s marvellous month of May began with a 2-1 win at Getafe CF, their first win in 10 matches. Then they beat Córdoba CF 2-0 at home and followed that up with a 3-0 win at Real Sociedad. Granada completed their turnaround with a 0-0 draw at home to Atlético Madrid, which sealed their place in the Liga BBVA. Overall, they scored seven goals in May, conceding just one.© LaLiga - Year 2015
