BBVA Awards for the best of October

Carlo Ancelotti and Pablo Machín are the best managers of the month, while Benzema and Marco Asensio picked up the best player awards.

BBVA, the Liga de Fútbol Profesional’s main sponsor, has announced the names of the best managers and players in October in the Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante.

In the Liga BBVA, it is Real Madrid who take all the honours. Their coach, Carlo Ancelotti, and striker, Karim Benzema, have been chosen as the best manager and player in the division, respectively. The Italian coach led the team to some excellent results during the last month of the competition, with a balance of three victories, 13 goals scored and just one conceded. The positive results in October, after the win over Granada CF, were enough to take the Whites to the top of the Liga BBVA at the start of November. For his part, the French striker was a key player in Madrid’s successful month, scoring three goals, demonstrating his quality in every match and proving a continuous threat to rival defences.

Pablo Machín, the Girona FC manager, and Marco Asensio, the RCD Mallorca midfielder, are the chosen names in the Liga Adelante. The coach from Soria saw out the month of October with his team at the top of the table, recording four victories with a balance of nine goals scored and none conceded. Likewise, the Bermellones’ young gun has been the flag-bearer for Mallorca, the team that racked up three consecutive victories in the last month of competition. As well as scoring two goals, Asensio demonstrated his attacking skills and electric pace on the pitch.

The judges are professional footballers who are very familiar with both the Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante and have no ties to any of the clubs in the competition.
