Fernando Sanz Duran (Madrid, 1974) is a former Spanish footballer who spent 11 seasons playing in LaLiga with Real Madrid and Malaga CF. He racked up 240 appearances, 35 for Los Blancos and 205 for the Andalusian outfit, where he also scored five goals.
The defender was amongst the medals during his second season in the Real Madrid first team, with the club winning LaLiga in 1997, which was followed by the Champions League and Intercontinental Cup the year after. The Spaniard, who managed to add the Intertoto Cup to his honours list at Malaga, quickly cemented his place on the Costa del Sol and became captain.
The reliable and elegant centre-back defined an era at the club and his performances will be remembered fondly by the Rosaleda faithful for a long time to come.
