LaLiga Santander Matchday 28 in Numbers

Messi’s century of braces, a long-standing unbeaten run in the Basque country and a stunning comeback win all feature in this week’s numbers.

6.The number of times that Espanyol have played and scored against Eibar in LaLiga. Quique Sanchez Flores’ side, who came back to draw 1-1 at Ipurua on Saturday, have never been kept scoreless by the Basque outfit in a league encounter.

7.The number of minutes it took R. Sporting to score three goals and turn their relegation six-pointer with Granada at El Molinon on its head. Goals from Lacina Traore, Jean-Sylvain Babin and Carlos Carmona saw Rubi’s side run out 3-1 winners, leapfrogging their direct rivals into 18th place.

9.The number of wins racked up by Las Palmas in LaLiga Santander this season after Kevin-Prince Boateng’s header handed them a 1-0 win over Villarreal on Friday night. All but one of those wins – a 4-2 win over Valencia on the opening day of the season – have come at home.

14.The number of goals scored in LaLiga Santander by Antoine Griezmann after his stunning free kick strike against Sevilla on Sunday afternoon. The Frenchman has now scored 13 goals in all competitions in 2017, second only to Luis Suarez (14).

15.The number of LaLiga Santander goals scored by Iago Aspas this season following his Galician derby winner at Riazor. Aspas is the first Celta player to reach the tally in a single season since Brazilian forward Fernando Baiano achieved the feat back in 2006/07.

17.The number of years since Alaves last lost at home to fellow Basque side Real Sociedad in the league. The side from Vitoria extended their unbeaten run with a 1-0 win over La Real at Mendizorroza on Saturday evening.

49.The number of consecutive games in which Real Madrid have scored in all competitions, a record among LaLiga teams. Goals from Karim Benzema and Casemiro extended their hot streak in front of goal and handed Zinedine Zidane’s side all three points against Athletic Club at San Mames.

100.The number of braces scored by Lionel Messi in a Barcelona shirt. The Argentine star notched the 100th two-goal haul of his Barcelona career in his side’s 4-2 win over Valencia on Sunday night.
